- What is your role at Confex and how long have you worked here?
I have worked at Confex for 7 years, since Confex CD was born, back then it was just James and myself, it was not long before help was needed and now there are 7 of us. I mainly send out the invoices and do the credit notes for shortages and damages.
- What did you do before joining Confex?
I have had various jobs over the years, 18 very happy years working in our local pub, full time and then part time, I also worked for a local garage, running customers back and forth and taking cars for their MOT’s, towing in breakdowns and jump starting reluctant cars. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to drive so many different makes, and to learn basic mechanics, which have come in very useful since then. The garage owners retired and the site was taken over by an agent for Ivor Williams Trailers and I continued to work for them for another ten years.
- What do you do when you’re not at Confex?
When not at work I seem to be running around after my daughter and her ponies. She is a good rider and keen to get on the Eventing Pony Team in the next couple of years. This is for under 16’s on ponies, and they do dressage, show jumping and cross country. Tthe European Championships are held in a different county each year, and to ride for Great Britain would be a huge achievement……because of this there does not seem to be much spare time!
- If you were able to retire tomorrow, how would you spend your time?
- Who inspires you?
I spend all my spare time helping my daughter with her ponies.
- What type of business would you go into, if it wasn’t wholesale?
I have been to Dubai a few times and it is amazing to see how it has grown over the years. Everytime we return there seems to not only be a new skyscraper but usually a new man-made island too!
- What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
To one day fly business class!
- What do you like about working at Confex?
Without a doubt the mix of people.
