Logistics & Distribution Director
- How long have you worked at Confex?
I joined in 2007. In the first year Central Distribution was just me and Miranda processing orders for Wrigley chewing gum ! Now we are a team of seven, growth has been exponential.
- What were you doing before joining
I spent 10 years in the retail trade building up my own business from a tiny high street shop to a 6,000 square foot operation before selling out to a leading mail order business who wanted some retail outlets. I stayed on working for them for a year before this new opportunity came along.
- Tell us something different about
your life outside of Confex?
I love classic cars and dream of owning an Aston Martin from the 1970’s – my favourite programme is Wheeler Dealers on Discovery where they buy and renovate old cars before selling them on for a profit ; I could watch it all day !
- Who are your role models and why?
I admire those with the vision to see the wood not the trees ! With Dr. Ian Paisley having just died I have been thinking about how amazing it was for him and Martin McGuinness of Sinn Fein to end up sharing power in Northern Ireland. Sometimes you just have to put the past behind you, the future matters more.
- How do you like to spend any spare time you may have?
We are lucky enough to have inherited a farm with 40 acres and we spend a lot of time outdoors in one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds.
- What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
Hong Kong, we went there in the late 1980’s and it had a buzz like no other place I have ever been.
- Tell us an ambition you have achieved and
one you have yet to fulfil?
Driving an Aston Martin DB4 at the recent Confex Incentive Day at Goodwood.
Owning an Aston Martin DB4 !
- What do you like about working at Confex?
The people – we have such great staff. We are so lucky that people stay and stay with us, we must be doing something right.
