  1. What is your role at Confex and how long have you worked here?
My role is Digital Marketing and Events assistant. My responsibilities include managing Confex’s social media, sorting digital content such as banners and images, and maintaining promotions on the Confex website. I also create my own content when necessary including gifs and banners, and liaise with suppliers to ensure there digital needs are being satisfied. I started at Confex on the 7th of March, so have worked there for over 3 months.
  2. What did you do before joining Confex?
I graduated from University a year before I started at Confex, and in the my time after university I worked at a café whilst writing short story’s in my spare time.
  3. What do you do when you’re not at Confex?
I spend most of my time with my girlfriend watching movies/films, playing video games or going into town. I am a big fan of films and try to watch as many as I can, my favourites are Platoon and Hot Fuzz. I also spend time with my friends, mostly to watch football or go to the pub. I still try to write occasionally but no longer have as much free time!
  4. If you were able to retire tomorrow, how would you spend your time?
I would move to somewhere hot and by the beach, preferably Jamacia, and spend most of my time on the beach with a rum-based cocktail. When not on the beach I would like to focus on writing and finish a full-length book, for which I have a few ideas, although my favourite is suspiciously similar to the plot of Aliens – I came up with the idea before I saw the film. I would hope that by this time England has won a major tournament and I can live the remainder of my days in peace.
  5. Who inspires you?
Tyson Fury inspires me, as he went from rock bottom to world champion. At the time of his first fight with Wilder I was struggling with my mental health, so it really inspired me to see him not only go 12 rounds with the most feared hitter in the sport but get up from a brutal knock out. The fact that he managed to go from such a dark place to producing that display made me believe that I could overcome my own issues- and I have!
  6. What type of business would you go into, if it wasn’t wholesale?
I would love to go into television or film, most likely into advertising or music but I would also love to write a screenplay. I love films and would love to be part of the process. I also enjoy listening to music and often picture songs to scenes of a movie or tv show that I have made up.
  7. What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
The most interesting place I have visited is probably the Sistine chapel in Vatican City. The chapel roof is adorned with perhaps the most amazing art known to man, and the whole building is incredible. I found the whole experience extremely spiritual and would love to return there soon, hopefully with my girlfriend who loves art.
  8. What do you like about working at Confex?
I thoroughly enjoy working for Confex! The people have been extremely friendly and helpful for me to learn about the industry and professionalism. I really enjoy my work too, as a lot of it is quite creative. I love writing and a lot of my job is writing post for social media, and I feel proud when a post gets a lot of interactions. I also like designing things; I recently made a banner that was accepted by a supplier to go into the newsletter which made me very pleased! I consider myself to be quite friendly and social, and a lot of my job is communicating with suppliers. Whilst most of this is through email at the moment, I am looking forward to meeting people in person.
