- How long have you worked at Confex?
Iíve been working at Confex since November 2015.
- What were you doing before joining
Iíve worked in various administration roles. After University, I worked as a Graduate Intern in the Undergraduate Office at Aston Business School. I was then offered a job in the same office as a Placement Assistant helping Undergraduate students find placements for their compulsory year at work. After that I moved onto a Student Support Co-ordinator role, helping students with all aspects of their studies, working there for a total of five years.
- Tell us something different about
your life outside of Confex?
I am passionate about supporting the charity Cancer Research UK ever since my grandad passed away from cancer. Since then, I have run Race for Life every year and I work at a Cancer Research UK shop on a Sunday. I have even organized a few cake sales in the past!
- Who are your role models and why?
I donít have any role models as such, however, I always feel inspired by real life stories of ordinary people who have overcome difficulties and struggles to realize their goals and be successful in their own right.
- How do you like to spend any spare time you may have?
I enjoy running, charity work, yoga, meditation, reading, writing, walks in the countryside, baking and photography. I have recently started to learn how to sew and aspire to learn how to make my own clothes one day!
- What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
I was lucky to have done some travelling in my gap year; I went to Thailand, Australia and New Zealand which were all interesting in very different ways! However, recently I went to Budapest and fell in love with it! It is a beautiful city, with lots of greenery, fantastic architecture and lots to do.
- Tell us an ambition you have achieved and
one you have yet to fulfil?
I wrote an article which was published on a website; this was one of my ambitions as Iím a keen writer. An ambition I have yet to realize is running a half-marathon. I starting to train for one but got shin splints and had to abandon it. Iíd slowly like to work up to one and this time train a bit better!
- What do you like about working at Confex?
I really like the people that I work with, everyone is so lovely and there is a nice atmosphere at work Ė so important when you spend every day there! I also like working for a small company because you feel really valued as an individual; youíre not just another number!
