  1. How long have you worked at Confex?
4 years having joined in August 2014.
  2. What were you doing before joining Confex?
I worked as PA to Director at The British Valve & Actuator Association for 5 years. BVAA represent interests in over 170 British companies. BVAA member companies employ more than 9,000 personnel directly in manufacturing and an equal number in support industries.
  3. Tell us something different about your life outside of Confex?
I grew up on a farm so love living and being in the countryside. Anything to do with being outdoors / gardening. I am a member of The National Trust and recently visited Agatha Christie’s holiday home in Devon which featured in Poirot’s Dead Man’s Folly.
  4. Who are your role models and why?
I would say my mum and sister as they are both confident and always strive to build my confidence in areas where I struggle, without their support I wouldn’t be where I am now!
  5. How do you like to spend any spare time you may have?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Walking with my dog George and pottering about in my small garden.
  6. What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
Tunisia and visiting the amphitheater which dominates the landscape as you approach El Jem town. It was built around 230 AD and could seat 35,000. The rooms underneath house Lions and other wild animals and certainly made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! It was also used as the film set in Gladiator. Also, visiting the ‘Valley of the King’s in Cyprus - these underground tombs date back to the 4th century BC. They are carved out of solid rock while some are decorated with Doric pillars. High officials rather than Kings were buried here but the magnificence of the tombs gave the locality its name.
  7. Tell us an ambition you have achieved and one you have yet to fulfil?
I hate flying but have always wanted a go in a helicopter (not that exciting to some) and at the Confex Member Incentive 2014 I managed to fulfill this ambition. I not only got to go in one but also managed to sit in the front! The views were amazing over the South Downs
  8. What do you like about working at Confex?
Quiet, rural location and lovely spacious offices.
